5 Reasons I Smile

The ultimate goal of this blog is to spread awareness and show how beautiful life can be. We have four amazing daughters. Our youngest was born with Down syndrome. If just one person stops here and leaves with a different, better perspective about Down syndrome, then it is worth it. Regardless, I have 5 Reasons to Smile!

Starting Somewhere

I sit here not sure if this is something I want to do, but realize it is something I need to do. For myself, Kamryn, and my family. A few months after Kamryn was born a friend sent me a link to a website titled "Bridget's Light". There, I was introduced to a beautiful family who not only inspired me, but gave me hope. Then, I started following Bridget's Light and several other blogs. I felt like I knew these families. I read and read. When I was feeling down or scared I would go to one of the several blogs I had started following. I would see these other families doing "normal" things and it would comfort me. The blogging community was/is amazing. I realized that I no longer wanted to be just a reader and follower, but I wanted to become part of the community. I wanted to make connections, ask for help-advice and share my story. I am very nervous about sharing my thoughts and moments on-line for the world to see. I am not a writer. I may not clearly articulate what I want or mean to say. I may offend someone. I may look back, read something and offend myself. I am taking a deep breath and reminding myself that life takes turns you never expect, and you do things you never thought you would or could do. Here goes.

  1. Welcome! I am thrilled that you are blogging now! Looking forward to getting to know you better in between visits :) And by the way, you definitely have five AMAZING reasons to smile :)

As for being nervous, just say whatever is in your heart. You can't go wrong :)

  2. Yay, Andrea. Huge step, I know! Your 5 reasons made me smile, too, but you're one of the reasons I smile. You have come such a long way and I'm glad you're jumping into blogging. Don't feel you have to "say it all" or bear your deepest thoughts. It's really what you want to put out there and nothing more. I still haven't shared my darkest moments, although I may some day. AND, if you ever decide you don't like a post, you can delete it. It's an online journal of whatever you make it. I've read some deep thoughts on blogs, informational blogs and some very surface-level photos-only blogs. I hope mine is a balance. But it's me just being myself. You'll find your niche. Welcome to Blogland.
